HOW TO MAKE CLEAR GLAZE FOR FRUIT

HOW TO MAKE CLEAR GLAZE FOR FRUIT
When applied to fruits, clear glaze gives them an attractive sheen. It further enhances the sweetness and preserves the freshness of fresh or cooked fruit. Use clear glaze to give fruits an appealing mirror-like finish. You can use the glazed fruits individually in dessert presentations, as a topping for cakes, or as a filling in tarts and pies. By using just a few ingredients to prepare clear glaze, you can give your fruits a professional-looking finish.
Fill a saucepan with 1 cup fruit juice. Use any fruit juice of your choice such as lemonade, apple or orange.
Add 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons cornstarch. Set the saucepan on medium heat. Use a large spoon to stir the mixture constantly and prevent it from sticking to the saucepan.
Cook until the mixture thickens. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2 minutes. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Allow the glaze to cool for approximately 10 minutes.
Place the fruits to be glazed in a bowl. Pour the glaze over the fruits. Toss the bowl gently to coat the fruits with the glaze.
CLEAR GLAZE FOR FRUIT –DIFFERENT VARIATIONS

CLEAR GLAZE FOR FRUIT –DIFFERENT VARIATIONS
Thin and crackly or soft and jellied, there’s a glaze for every sweet occasion. For a candied-apple-style glaze, use a hard-candy version. For a thin glaze to finish fruit-topped cakes, use a simple syrup. Clear doesn’t have to mean flavorless, so if you want to add a few drops of extract or liqueur, go ahead. You can also replace the water in a glaze with fruit juice, if you like, or add coloring. Complete the prep work before you start the glaze — peel, chop and seed the fruit, and coat a sheet pan with cooking spray.
