VALMA’S COTTAGE PIE
2 onions , chopped
oil
500 g beef mince
2 carrots , grated
1 cube beef stock , in 1/2 cup hot water
salt and pepper
3 eggs , boiled and peeled ( ek het nie eiers in gesit nie )
6 potatoes , peeled and boiled
splash hot milk
large knob butter
1 tsp ( 5 ml ) BBQ spice
or nutmeg
Preheat oven to 180 C
Saute onions in oil until lightly browned
Add mince and stir with onion until cooked through
Add grated carrots and simmer until pot is almost dry .
Add stock and season.
Spoon mince into dish cut boiled eggs into halves or quarters and press into mince .
Mash potatoes with a little milk and butter . season well .
Spread over mince .
Scatter BBQ spice or nutmeg over mash and dot with a little more butter .
Bake for 30 minutes or until golden . Smaak baie lekker BBQ spice oor .
