BACON PIZZA
Topping for pizza:
1 Bag of Bacon chopped into pieces
2 Cups of my home made chakalaka tomato and onion chutney
1/2 Cup of Celery chopped
5 Mushrooms sliced
Lots of Cheese for on top of the pizza
Salt and Pepper to taste
Herbs and Spices to Taste
Pizza Dough Ingredients:
3 Cups of flour
2 packets of instant yeast
pinch of salt
pinch of white sugar
1/2 Cup – 1 Cup Lukewarm Water
1 Pack Tomato Paste / Tomato Sauce
Method for the pizza dough:
In a mixing bowl add all the dry ingredients and mix well with a wooden spoon.
Put the oven on 70°C.
While mixing add the lukewarm water till dough is well mixed.
Fold the dough in and place on a round pan in the oven to rise for ±30 min. till the dough is doubled in size.
While the dough is busy rising in the oven add the bacon with the celery and the salt and pepper and herbs and spices to a little oil in a pan, and fry till cooked.
Add the rest of the ingredients to the bacon and celery and mix well.
Set aside.
After the dough has risen, roll out the dough till you get two round pizza bases.
Place on two round pans and let rise again for ±20 min.
After it has risen place the oven on 200°C and let bake for 15 min.
After it has baked remove, and spread the tomato paste / tomato sauce onto the bases of the pizza dough.
Put the pizza topping on top and cover with cheese.
After the two pizzas have been topped with topping and cheese place in the oven on 180 Celsius for ±20 min. till the cheese has melted.
After the pizza has been finished baking remove and place on a board for it to cool a little.
Serve and enjoy while hot!
