DIFFERENCE BETWEEN VANILLA EXTRACT AND ESSENCE
a)Vanilla extract is made from the real vanilla pods that are naturally occurring
b)Vanilla essence is commercial manufactured by chemicals.

a)Vanilla extract is more expensive then Vanilla Essence
b)The flavour is a lot fuller and richer flavour from the extract.
c)The Vanilla extract is generally thicker where as the Essence has a watery consistency.
3)Yes one can one replace the other
Just use a little more essence like ½ again if using essence rather then extract.
ie 1 teaspoon of Vanilla extract = 1½ teaspoons of Vanilla Essence
