SWEET MARMELADE
(make about 1.5 liters)
4-5 washed oranges
2 kg white sugar
1 liter water
Peel oranges as thinly as posible and cut the pieces into thin strips. (photo 1)
Now cut the fleshy cells (the smal cells that have the juice in them out of the inner skin (photo 2)
Put the peel and juicy parts in a pot big enough to hold more than 2 liters.
Add water and boil for 20 minutes then add sugar.
Boil for 1 hour at medium heat.
Test the consistancy of the marmelade by dripping a little bit of the syrup onto a clean cold saucer and let it cool. The syrup must set and not run when tilting the saucer.
Marmelade is ready when the syrup don’t run.
If not then you can cook for another 20 minutes.
Sterilize glas bottels in boiling water and dry.
Fill and seal them while the marmelad is stil hot.
